Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
